Course structure

This course is delivered face-to-face at our city campus. It will take place across five sessions over ten weeks. The course can be completed at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will be assessed through a 3,500 word essay.

Topics covered include:

• National policy, legislation and research developments in care of the older person
• Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Elder Abuse
• The importance of multidisciplinary input and collaborative working
• Promoting ‘wellness’ and providing an appropriate environment and meaningful activity
• Supporting the carer by utilising partnership working and voluntary agencies/societies
• Issues in ageing: Osteoporosis, Falls, Delirium and Dementia, and Parkinson’s Disease
• Telehealth
